Speech and Language Therapist

Afshan is fluent in Urdu, Spanish and English.

She works with children (pre-school-16) with delayed or disordered speech or/and language, dyspraxia, complex needs and autistic spectrum disorders. She is trained in dysphagia, PECS LSVT and is used to using Makaton and Talk Tools.

Afshan also works with adults with Voice difficulties, Parkinson's disease, Motor Neurone Disease, Traumatic Brain Injury, Cancer, MS, Dementia, Stroke and associated swallowing difficulties.

Afshan has been a clinical supervisor to newly qualified therapists working with adults and children, supervising clinicians through the fist year of their clinical competencies framework. Afshan provides training to SENCOs, Portage services and Educational Psychologists on using iPads with children with speech and language difficulties, and in the development of early communication skills relating to the EYFS curriculum.

Afshan provides a holistic service enabling her and patients to have access to NHS therapy alongside private input. She teaches and trains clients and parents to empower themselves with therapeutic tasks, providing them with encouragement and support until they reach their goals. This allows her to keep her caseload personalized, effective and flexible.
